On Saturday September 17th SF CalHeat started the indoor season on a very promising note by hosting a Team Handball clinic for High Schools in the Bay Area.
In what will be the inaugural season of the first Bay Area Youth Team Handball League, the clinic had the participation of Lycée Français de San Francisco, Sterne School, Stanbridge Academy, and Bayhill High School, and the possibility of more schools joining the league before the final tournament to be held in November 5th.
The volunteers from SF CalHeat did a tremendous job teaching the fundamentals of the sport to dozens of very promising young athletes from the Bay Area, the ages of the kids ranged from Jr. High to Seniors at High School, and even some chatting of National Team material was heard through the grapevine.
The coaches from the school got acquainted with the rules of the game, and just how easy it is to get a two minutes suspension for stepping onto the court, but head home with a bag full of knowledge to apply during their practices and the forthcoming games.
A tremendous experience for the kids, the coaches, and everyone involved; and hopefully just the first one of many more to come. This season looks to be the best one ever!!
