A year after, both our (women and men) teams repeated their performance and won the Texas Cup – undefeated!
In an expanded women’s division (4 teams), the team led by Tina Alavanja brilliantly defeated all their opponents by a significant margin. In the final, the team went on to beat the Alberta Youth Elite team 26-16. Claire Boussuge (22 goals), Costance Duvert (18) and Agustina Amiconi (17) played a big part in that success. This makes it the second consecutive trophy for the ladies, who will now take some good rest before resuming their preparation for the California Cup (Jan 24-26).
In the men’s division, San Francisco Calheat conquered their first title of the season, beating US Air Force, Houston Firehawks, NYAC II and Dallas. In the absence of some key players, it took the team few games to get the ‘machine’ started. In the final game, the host, Dallas, put up a great fight and took a 1-goal lead at half time with the help of their goalkeeper Omid Bazanjani (17 saves). However, the boys were back with a monumental defense in the second half allowing the Texans only one goal in 15 minutes (!). Final score 19-14.
This tournament concludes the first half of the season and an excellent 2019. The teams will be back in January for our annual California Cup. Until then, we wish everyone happy holidays!
