This season started early for the CalHeat Women team as they flew to Chicago to participate on the traditional Michael Lipov Memorial Tournament.
Competition started with two tough losses for the Smurfs as they went 15 – 20 against Alberta and 17 – 20 against the local Chicago Inter Black. But things started to look better on the following games as the Californians went undefeated the rest of the way. They defeated West Point 17 – 12 and Chicago Inter Yellow for a score of 15 – 10.
Next came the game for the Bronze Medal, and your CalHeat was able to again defeat the team from West Point with a score of 22 – 20 after 30 minute halves of play.
We thank our friends from Chicago Inter for hosting the tournament, and to the rest of the teams for an excellent competition throughout the weekend. We hope to welcome all of you back when our Cal Cup happens late next January!
